Being Mindful
Routines can be very comforting. They provide us with structure and predictability, although these are essential in a world of chaos, we often overlook the little things. Have you ever found yourself going through the motions without thinking about why you do what you do? We spend most of our lives on autopilot, but do we ever ask ourselves: Are we really living the life we want?
Sticking to what we've always known can cause burn-out. Although, we might be different people now compared to when we created this "routine" of life, or were making choices based off social expectations, its easy to get caught up in the "shoulds" of life. This forces us mentally out of what we genuinely want and neglecting the awareness and commitment to regularly check in with ourselves. To make choices that align with the life we aspire to have.
But what does it mean to live a life in mindfulness?
Living a life in mindfulness means being aware of your thoughts, feelings, and surroundings. Be present with yourself, observe without judgement, practicing gratitude, being aware of your impact, and practicing self love. If we are stuck on autopilot day in and day out, we seem to over look ourselves, pass judgement and burry our emotions. Challenge yourself every night to light a candle of your choice, whether it brings you to a nostalgic time in your life, or soothes your soul from chaos. Take time for yourself to feel your emotions, congratulate yourself on even the smallest accomplishments that day, and start falling in love with your life and the life you want to lead.
